A student with autism at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington died after being separated from a support worker he had a romantic interest in. The inquest heard that the college neglected to offer sufficient assistance, which was a factor in the teenager's death. The student was found dead in a lavatory, with investigations revealing systemic issues in handling the demands of autistic pupils.
